The unnamed officer and an unidentified driver of a car were both in stable condition at the hospital as of Monday.

Both are expected to recover after treatment. No details were provided on their injuries. The officer was described as being alert following the crash, according to Las Vegas TV station KLAS.

The collision took place at about 8 p.m. at the intersection of Paradise Road and Desert Inn roads.Β The site is close to the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Las Vegas Marriott.

A total of three cars were involved in the collision.

It appears the injured officer was driving an LVMPD cruiser on the northbound lanes of Paradise Road when the driver of a white sedan ignored a traffic signal and struck the police car. A third vehicle was also damaged from the collision but the driver of that car escaped injuries.

Police continued to investigate the accident as of Tuesday. None of the motorists appeared to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash, KLAS reported.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officers quickly looked for witnesses and searched for evidence at the crime scene. Police haven’t revealed any information on the shooter or said if they had a suspect. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

Man Allegedly Stabs Police Dog

A man was arrested for allegedly repeatedly stabbing an LVMPD dog on Friday.

Enzo, a two-year-old Belgian Malinois who is used as a police dog, bit Thurman Lowe, 64, after he barricaded himself on South Las Vegas Boulevard during a fire at the property.

After being stabbed, the dog was airlifted to a specialized care setting and required surgery. He was listed in critical but stable condition following the operation.

Lowe is facing five charges, police said. These include attempting to kill a police animal, assault with a deadly weapon, and first-degree arson, according to Las Vegas TV station KVVU.

Lowe also was injured in the confrontation with the dog and required hospital treatment. He is also a suspect in a St. Louis, Mo. fatal shooting and fire, according to Las Vegas TV station KLAS.
